Within the wide world of poker, we can find the a game know as stud poker. This is a version of poker that is played with face up and face down cards. This version of poker has two different categories, called, 5-card stud, and seven card stud, which are the best known versions.

These stud poker categories represent the modern versions of the stud game, which originally emerged during the American Revolutionary War.

Seven-card stud

This variant of stud poker is one of the most known worldwide. The object of this game is to get the highest hand of the seven that may be available, since the player is given seven cards at the beginning of the game. Bets made in this game are fixed, is similar to fixed limit.

To play this game, you must have knowledge of general rules of poker, in addition to the different classifications of hands out there.

The maximum players that can participate in this game are 8 players. To begin the game is necessary to place a forced bet called the ante. Then the cards are dealt, and the player who show the low value card should make a forced bet called the bring-in. In this case the card must be from those that are exposed (face up), and within the denominations of the cards, the Ace is considered a high card.

Once the bring-in is set, the other players must determine their next move, the options are: call, raise, or fold. That is up to each player in turn, in a round in the direction of clockwise.

In seven stud poker, it is advisable to play quickly at the beginning, this should have a pair. If you play fast with a high pair, try to eliminate as many players as possible.

Note that the first four cards are the main key to winning at Seven Card Stud. If you see that your starting hands are strong and good, you could end up being the game winner. If you see that you hands are week and you do not have strong hands, it would be best fold with time.

5 Card Stud Poker

This game is based primarily on achieving high cards and pairs, the main rule is that the highest hand wins. Within the classification of cards, the Ace plays both high and low values.

It is recommended that in this version of stud poker, the players do not play straight or flush, unless you have three cards for a straight flush on the third card.

It is important to look closely at the opponents. As advice, do not start playing if you do not have a strong card to defeat at the table, in this case, if you do not have good cards, it is better to fold, if you do not have at least one pair in the first three cards.
